Yesterday I headed to Melbourne on a mission to find my 'Mother of the Bride' outfit and I wasn't coming home until I bought one! It was an early start and I was on the road by 6.30am but of course the traffic up and over the Westgate Bridge was it's usual stop / start / stop trip. I wasn't in any hurry but I am sure glad that I don't have to tackle that every day to get to work......it is much easier to walk across the track to the dairy than spend hours in a car every day!
The weather was hot so it was nice to spend time inside the airconditioned shops......walking between the shops in the city was a different matter with the temperature in the high 30's. I do dislike clothes shopping and usually get distracted by other, more fun shopping....but not yesterday.....no extra shopping at all! I can't give away too many details but I did find my MOB dress at Anthea Crawford in Myer. The sales assistants were lovely unlike some of the others. I walked around the different designer sections in Myer, just browsing to see if anything caught my eye. In the 'Charlie Brown' section the sales assistant asked if I was right, at the same time looking me up and down with a judgemental eye.....when I replied I was just looking she turned and walked away.....I could just hear what she was thinking!
The next hurdle is the shoes......I tried.....I really tried....I was so close....but damn you size 9.5 - 10 feet.....an 8.5 was just too small. As I didn't take my pyjamas and toothbrush with me I had to go home and decided to leave to shoes for another day.
Linda :)
So glad you found your outfit, another thing you can cross off the list.

Well done! Such a good feeling to get it done. My Mum wore Anthea Crawford to my wedding nearly 12 years ago now. She was young like yourself and didn't want chiffon or anything that looked like what my Grandmas wore. She found it really difficult til we got to the Anthea Crawford section of David Jones in Adelaide. Price didn't matter in the end! I have size 10 feet. But i think many people must coz there are never 10s left!
