There is just a little hint of Spring in the air. The days are getting just a little bit longer, and the temperature is starting to rise......even if it is only marginally. This afternoon I was even able to get out and mow the lawns.....well I did most of them.....some parts are still just a little bit too wet underneath to risk driving the ride on mower anywhere near them! I noticed on my 'travels' that the flowers are also starting to let us know that sunny weather isn't too far away......the first of the daffodils are blooming.
The Winter flowering Camellias are in full bloom.
And there are some sneaky early blossoms appearing on the Ornamental Pears.
The vegetable garden isn't doing much at the moment. We are still eating our way through our huge crop of carrots.......only 3 rows to go! The parsnips are almost gone.......Russell has perfected making potato & parsnip mash which is really good so we will have to plant more this year. The spring onions are still going, and the celery has been handy for soups and casseroles. Most of the broccoli is still a way off from being ready except this early plant......
I am looking forward to a 'green' change from the frozen peas and beans that we have been living off for the last few months.
We have had a lot of rain this Winter......a little more like the Winters of old. Our dam that feeds the garden is now overflowing which is a lovely sight to see.
The garden will be well watered this Summer.
