'Outback Wife' is the debut collection of Cathi Bessell-Browne, the hands and heart behind Gertrude Made. I have followed Cathi on Instagram for quite a while and have oohed and aahed at her beautiful dresses that she creates from vintage fabrics. Inspired by the beautiful floral barkcloth fabrics of the 1940s and 1950s, each detail of the 'Outback Wife' collection has been meticulously and sincerely considered to create a range with an authentic vintage voice. The stunning hand-painted floral designs printed on an exclusive cotton barkcloth base, tell the story of four Australian rural women. You can read all about these four amazing women on Cathi's Blog.......Elaine, Kristine, Mary and Bindi.
I must admit that I had a really hard time when it came to selecting some of these beautiful fabrics to order.
I am now eagerly waiting on the delivery truck to arrive.......they are due any day now! I have loaded them up on my website for those wanting to place an order as I know that there are quite a few of you out there eager to get their hands on some of it. The cost is $30 per metre and it is 58" wide.
I may not have been an Outback Wife, but being a dairy farmer for 30 years I truly understand the strength, passion and courage of rural women across Australia.
