What a busy weekend it was with my stocktake sale…….Saturday was a rush with Sunday a little quieter. It was great to catch up with lots of ladies who called in to stock up on their bits’n’pieces to keep them busy thru the coming cold winter nights. To those who missed out or live just too far away to travel to the shop, I have a special offer. If you email your order through to me by 1st July I will give you 20% off your order (plus postage). If you have any questions I can answer them too. All fabric is regularly $22 per metre………so deduct 20% and that = $17.60 per metre. Stocktake Sale

It is almost the end of another financial year. This usually means collating lots of paperwork for the accountant, although this year it has been a very stressful time as the price we are being paid for our milk doesn’t even cover the costs to produce it. We, like a lot of others, are just ‘treading water’ at the moment trying to keep our heads up and hope like hell that the opening milk price is better than the forecasted one. It is also the time of the year for all of those Stocktake Sales……..and mine is on once again. So to help everyone stretch their $$ further, I am taking 20% off everything in the shop for two days only. The sale is on Saturday 27^th and Sunday 28^th June, 11am til 4pm both days. Don’t forget that if you finish a bolt you will get 20% off – so with the additional 20% sale discount that’s a massive saving. It’s also a great chance to get the necessary supplies to finish off some of those ufo’s that have been sitting around for a while………backing fabric, wadding, thread or binding.

Star trekking

Last night hubby and I traveled in to Colac (55km) to catch a movie. We have seen a few lately…..Gran Tarino, The Wrestler, Wolverine, and last night Star Trek. Russell and I are Star Trek fans – not to the dress up in the uniforms level but we always watch the shows when they are on television. We are going to try and squeeze another movie in next week – Terminator – before we get too busy with the cows again. We aren’t milking many cows at the moment - although we have just started calving so that will be ending very very soon.

I had a nice visit from Becky (no blog) and Harry last Sunday. Becky called in to show me her monkey from the Monkey Madness night, which was held last month. She made ‘Max’ as a present for Harry.

Max is on the left – he is the cheeky one with the freckles.

I also had a visit from Julie (no blog) who dropped in to show me her Braid Quilt that she had picked up from Clever Ducks Quilting .

This photo doesn’t do the quilt justice (sorry Julie) – it really was very beautiful.

I hope everyone manages to get some stitching done over the weekend or maybe even go and see Star Trek!

New Max New

Where to begin.....

So much has been going on in the last week that I’ve hardly had a chance to check my emails let alone write a post. We catered for 2 functions (a dinner for 90 and a wedding for 140) in 4 days, something that I don’t really want to repeat any time soon. Anyway on to more important things………like fabric!

I finally managed to decide on the new range to order from the recent Moda catalogue. Well actually I could decide on just one so what the heck I ordered two!

The first is the new range called ‘Wiscasset’ by Minick & Simpson.

It is something different from what I usually order so if you like dark blues, reds and creams then keep you eye out for this range. It won’t be in until October but I have ordered some jelly rolls, layer cakes and charm packs which should arrive soon – just in case you can’t wait that long.

For those of you that love the designs by 3 Sisters then ‘Aster Manor’ is sure to get you thinking about your next project.

I have ordered this range (which also won’t be in until October) but the jelly rolls, layer cakes and charm packs arrived on Friday.

I only have a few of each so if you like the range get in quick as I’m sure that they won’t last. The wholesale price went up quite a bit but I’m trying to keep my prices as low as I can so the jelly rolls & layer cakes are $59.50 and the charm packs are $20.

This bed's too small.....

What do you do when your bed just isn't right...........why you pinch someone else's........

This is our dog Lister trying to fit into Lily's bed. I am dog sitting Lily (a small Jack Russell) at the moment while my mother-in-law is away at a family reunion.  Lister usually sleeps on the old chair in the corner of the photo..........you can just see one of his patchwork quilts on it. Yes I did say quilt........I think there are 3 old ones there at the moment!

Pattern of the Month - June

June’s pattern of the month is the new Melly & Me softie – Claudine.

Everyone who buys this purfect pattern during June will receive a free fat ¼ of fabric…..how fab is that! Pattern is $15 (plus postage if required). And although I'm not a cat person I am really looking forward to making this feline........who knows maybe we need a 'Cat Capers Night'!

'Crazy Eight' has arrived

The first of the Christmas fabric that I ordered oh so many months ago has arrived. It was a lovely surprise to see the large box in my back porch last night after I returned home from a visit to the Dentist…….ouch!…….what’s worse is that I have another 3 visits to come over the next 4 weeks…..so quadruple ouch! So today I stacked it up on the counter in the shop and wondered "where the heck do I put it?" I will worry about that in the morning but in the meantime here is a photo to get you all thinking about Christmas projects.

The range is ‘Crazy Eight’ by Sandy Gervais.

I have 19 bolts plus the panel and I can’t wait to start planning the projects for the ‘Christmas Club’ later in the year. There are still some more Christmas prints to come so maybe I’ll hold off until they arrive…..mmmmm…..famous last words…..I feel a project brewing already…..lol.

Also hidden away in the box was the latest Moda catalogue with the new ranges due for delivery in September / October. That’s my ‘job’ for tonight (in between watching ‘Spicks and Specks’ and ‘Chaser’) is to try to shortlist the range (or maybe ranges!) that I will order. Wish me luck…..there are some nice fabrics on offer this time around.

Winter has arrived

Welcome to Winter……..not my favourite season of the year…….on TV they talk about listening to the rain on the roof, sitting by an open fire and drinking hot chocolate – everything warm and fuzzy……….but to me it ‘s means rugging up with ten layers of clothing on, pulling on wet weather pants, coat and rubber boots and heading outside to cows and calves! In our area it usually gets cold and very wet in the winter, but when it’s all said and done it is the natural cycle of the seasons which we must have. I guess it makes us appreciate Spring more when it eventually arrives – roll on September.
