But I like them both.....

A couple of weeks ago two bolts of fabric arrived in the shop………..doesn’t sound that exciting but it was for me……….. they are a heavy weight fabric……..quite funky……….. and are from the Coo Taski Collection by Atelier Coo. I have been wanting to make a couple of new Satchels so on Thursday I set about to make the first one.

Then yesterday I decided to make a second one but make it ‘landscape’ shaped instead.

I really like them…….and I’m sure it won’t be long until they find new homes……..one in Melbourne and one in Colac!

The fabric is $26 / m and would also be great for carry bags and cushions.

Look who I found

Check out who I found hibernating in my garden on Wednesday.....

He was a bit upset about being woken up for a photo shoot and was doing quite a bit of hissing. He is a baby Blue Tongue Lizard. Cute isn't he..........well in a prehistoric kind of way!

New Patterns

Just arrived in the Shop are some new release cushion patterns from Sally Giblin of The Rivendale Collection. These include: ‘Share the Sunshine’, ‘Humble Home’, ‘Angels’ and ‘Flowers are Friends’. All are made from the lovely ‘Garden Party’ fabric range from Blackbird Designs, but could be easily made from other fabrics. All Patterns are only $10 each with some available in kit form.

Boy it feels good to see some progress in the garden.....but I think I will be feeling it in other ways tonight.......I used some muscles that I haven't used for quite a while.......lol!

Up to my armpits

Well it’s that time of the year and I’m up to my armpits in calves. So far so good…….where’s the closest bit of wood……..knock knock. My attitude this year is a bit more relaxed than in the past………..I’m only going to worry about things that I can change……..the sex of the calves was determined months ago; it rains in winter and gets cold and muddy; and putting on a few extra kilos helps to keep me warm and insulated!

This morning I decided that today would be an excellent day to catch up on all of the accounts and paperwork ……the fact that it is cold and wet outside had nothing to do with this decision……….lol! I’m part the way through and the goal for today is to be able to see my kitchen table again by tonight.

On the shop front, I’m in the midst of designing and making the next lot of samples for the classes which will be starting in late August / early September………which isn’t that far away. Had an idea for a beginners class last night while I was in the calf shed feeding some of my beloved ‘babies’………will be starting on that project tomorrow………..mmmmm which fabrics will I use?

My lovely MIL just dropped in a cream filled chocolate sponge……..at 86 she still can pump out one heck of a sponge……..yummy.......afternoon tea!

Cooking, Choreography and Crime.......what a night!

Well I’m in early from milking tonight…..5.10pm. That’s because we started early…..makes sense I suppose…….but the reason behind it all is that Russell has a meeting in Melbourne tonight and as we have lots of newly calved cows and heifers I couldn’t handle it all on my own. With Russell gone I think the order of events for tonight will be an quick and easy early tea…….followed by the watching of TV shows that I like but don’t normally get to watch……..Master Chef (I do get to watch it a couple of times a week…with someone suffering in the chair beside me!) ……Glee (I definitely can’t watch this one unless Russell is out)..…. Law and Order (can’t watch this either as the ‘bong bong’ music drives Russell crazy!)……all the while stitching more hexagons – trying to catch up numbers for a couple of slacker days this week.

My Saturday Snapshot

You might have been following a few fellow bloggers as they participated in Janelle's  Snapshots of June……….I was really tempted to join the fun but knew that I wouldn’t be able to stick to the ‘photo a day’ posts. So instead here’s my Saturday Snapshot for the 3^rd July……well at least so far.

My alarm goes off at 6am…….just in time to listen to the news……..which sometimes I don’t even remember listening too………this morning the cows were in a paddock a bit further from the dairy………so I lay in until 6.20. Up and dressed………….put a load of washing on. Off to the dairy, milked the cows and fed these little ones….

And back inside by 8am. Breakie……..dishes…….more washing…….then out to stack the wood.

We usually try and get this done earlier in the year but time has slipped by so this morning was it. Lister helped…….not!……

all he wanted to do was stick his nose in amongst the wood while I was trying to stack it.

Picked some lemons….and fed the chooks. Back inside to get ready to head up to the shop for the day. Saturdays have been reasonably quiet since the Football / Netball season started………but it is a great time to catch up on those jobs that always seem to be put off. It was nice to see Shirley……missed her on the last Material Girls Club day as she was looking after some of her grandies along with their other grandmother and fellow MGC member Betty. Also lovely to see Joanne…..her MIL lived next door to my Grandparents for a very long time and I have fond memories of ‘Auntie’ Nookie. I shut the shop at 3pm (new closing time for weekends over July and August) and was home to help round up the next lot of new calves. It wasn’t long before this was waiting for us…..

and those little ones again plus more. Everything went as smooth as can be expected when you are breaking in 8 new heifers………..'finished' for the day.........well not quite.......chicken stirfry for tea.........followed by compulsory Saturday night television viewing ……Doc Martin followed by The Bill……. with hexagons thrown in for good measure!
