Well I really don't know where to start but here goes. Several months ago when I first decided to host a stitching day Lenora told me that it would be like organising a wedding.......and guess what she was right! Not that I have organised a wedding but when Emma gets married in March 2013 it will be a breeze!
I asked Gail and Lenora whether they would be able to come along and share their special designs with the ladies for a day of stitching and fun. I was so delighted when they both agreed and it has been a very exciting experience organising everything for the day. The date was set and the 'invitations' went out.......70 ladies 'accepted' and although I had some pull out their places were quickly filled by other eager would be attendees.
In the months leading up to the day there was a lot of secret squirrel stuff going on behind the scenes.........I made all of the name badges...........
Check out how many 'J's there were!
Then there were the goody bags.......
Well I had to have something nice to put the lovely bag of GORGE Chocolates in! The white bags contained 5 different projects specially designed for the day by Gail & Lenora. (If you didn't attend - don't worry they will be releasing them as patterns so keep your eyes open on their blogs for the details.)
The room was set up on Friday with beautiful locally grown cyclamens on each table and quilts decorating the walls of the clubrooms.
It looked beautiful....and ready for Saturday morning arrivals.
The food was organised and helpers arranged. The day arrived......and the ladies arrived. After welcoming the everyone, Gail & Lenora introduced their projects and after a brief look at the 'eye candy' (aka Russell..........his words not mine.........needless to say when he entered the room to see lots of women looking at him he did look somewhat like a stunned mullet!) it was onto the sewing.
Debbie & Sharon asking Lenora a question. And Gail demonstrating
(Note to self......hang a quilt over the sherrin football sign next year!)
And of course there always has to be a 'naughty' table.....
only joking these girls are the best fun ever!
And there was also a 'little' bit of retail therapy during the day.
I couldn't relocate everything but I gave it my best shot........lol!
I would sincerely like to thank all of the ladies who attended and made the day the success that it was. Also huge thanks to all of the helpers........Russell - my 'eye candy' husband who is just so supportive of me and my business (surely that's worth a few more milkings off!); to Emma and Hannah who took time off their work to help mum (me!); Wendy (aka one half of Clever Ducks Quilting) and Keiran Gleeson for helping everywhere (and for donating 2 vouchers); Lyndell for her wonderful work in the kitchen (my no.1 when we cater) and her helpers Jenna & Amanda. Also big thanks to PK Fabrics, whom I buy all of my Moda fabric through, for donating lots of wonderful prizes for the lucky draws - 24 in total!
And the biggest thanks to these wonderful ladies (not the one in the middle the other 2!).
Sometimes in life you meet the best people and I consider myself very fortunate to be able to call both Lenora and Gail friends.
We all went out for dinner in Port Campbell last night, along with another friend Lorraine. She flew over from SA to attend the day (and also spend some time tripping around with Gail) and it was so nice to see her again.
So it has been a very long week for me so I am now off to eat leftover cold meat & salad from yesterday with some pav and fruit for dessert. The rest of the evening will be spent chillaxing while catching up with my 2 favourite Doctors .......... Who & Monroe.
Linda :)
