So what do you do when you run out of stuffing and really really need it and can't possibly wait until next week to buy some more? Well I'm sorry Pickle #1 but you're it!

......watched very closely by these two.
Don't worry about Pickle, I will restuff him once I get some more stuffing!

I have a few love / hate relationships.
I have written about some of them before......remember the crows that come every year and rip up my lawn at the shop......I also hate them when they pinch my chook eggs..... yet I love them out in the paddocks or watching the young crows trying to cadge a feed from mum or dad when they are old enough to fend for themselves.
It's no secret that I hate foxes.......especially after what they did to my chooks! But it is just so hard not to love this little fellow.

I am a day late in posting my 'Merry Christmas' message on my blog. Good intentions at this time of the year can quite easily be delayed by unexpected events......nothing terrible.....just visitors and flat batteries!
We had our family Christmas lunch in Warrnambool this year and as usual we all bring along something to share for lunch. It is always my 'job' to make the pavlova.....apparently I make a great pav!......I was also asked to bring along a second dessert. I love making deserts and thought that I would try something new. I am drawn to food magazines with beautiful pictures on the front covers.......it's a great marketing ploy as I'm sure I'm not the only one to do this! This Family Circle Magazine was no exception and I decided I would make a cake pop tree!
Okay.......the recipe said to buy frozen iced chocolate cakes.......not me......on Sunday I decided to make a large slab chocolate cake........easy :)
On Monday I chopped up the caked and whizzed it in the food processor and then rolled the mixture into balls.......64 of them......some rounded than others!
Next in went the lolly pop sticks.
Okay now the chocolate coating and decorating step.........
.............who's bright idea was it to make this damn thing...........why didn't I just make a choc-mint cheesecake! I'd better taste test one of the 'not so good ones'........yumm!
Christmas morning.........the assembly process began..........okay I couldn't get a cone so I bought a circular foam disc so it didn't turn out like the photo on the magazine but it looked pretty good.
The trip to Warrnambool with it on my knee was a bit hairy but the trip home it was in the boot!!!

Remember back on the 30th November I showed you this photo of the Grey Strike-thrush's nest in the cormer of the office in the dairy?
Well this is the photo that I snapped this morning.
Two half grown babies waiting patiently for their parents and their next feed. Mum & Dad seem to be continously flying in and out with insects and other tasty morsels in their mouths. Today will be a test for them as the temperature gauge is set to hit 39 degrees and their nest is on the west wall of the dairy copping the afternoon heat.

Ted would like to thank everyone for their birthday wishes.....and I would too! I went out for lunch with Mum, Lenora and one of her lovely daughters, Amy........Lenora wouldn't take no for an answer.......I didn't want any fuss but she insisted....lol!
That evening Russell and I went to Port Campbell for dinner.
Afterwards we went for a walk up to the pier. There were quite a few people trying their luck with a few rods in the water.
There were even 2 surfers out at the point trying to catch the right wave.......something I would never ever do!
So as the sun set another birthday has come and gone.......
I am not sad to be 50.....I am glad that I am 50.

I got Ted for my 1st birthday from my Grandmother.
The early years weren't too kind to him.......but his squeaker still works.
Today is Ted's 49th Birthday......so Happy Birthday Ted!

It has been a long time coming but today I finally took delivery of 24 glorious 'Independence Trail Wool' fabrics. I have had to wait an extra 3 months for them to arrive as they have had to come via the US, instead of directly from the mill, to the Australian Moda Supplier. The reason was that very few of the Australia Patchwork Shops ordered them.....so that means that I am one of the smart ones....lol!
I only ordered 1 yard of each and haven't yet decided how I will cut and bundle them up. If the truth be known I just want to sit and look at them!
Oh I did order a full bolt of the beautiful red check (third from the top) and I think it would make a lovely winter coat for me.......what do you think?

Remember how I mentioned that I had ordered the lovely new range of fabric by Lynette Anderson called 'Follow my Heart' and that it is due to be delivered in January / February next year? Well guess what arrived today!
Four boxes with 25 bolts of fabric tucked up inside.
I haven't even had a chance to make anything out of the fat 1/4 bundle that I purchased at the AQM in Melbourne 2 weeks ago.....lol!
Now where am I going to put it?
