Check out this great new fabric which arrived this week.
From Pat Sloan's new range called 'Bobbins and Bits', I couldn't resist this selvedge look alike fabric with the fantastic stitchy sayings ....... $22 per metre and is available from the shop or online here.

While attending the Quilt Exhibition in Brisbane a couple of weeks ago, I was disappointed that the Gallery Shop had sold out of all of the book - Quilts 1700 - 1945. I so wanted to take one home, but instead had to be content with placing my order, payine the postage and trying to wait patiently for the book to arrive. Imagine my excitement when I got home this afternoon from the shop to find a parcel with this inside!
I don't think that there will be a lot of sewing going on tonight.......

It's not until you own a patchwork shop that you realise just how much fabric is available. Every time a rep comes to visit I am shown hundreds of ranges of fabrics that will be available over the following months. Some I just know that I don't like.......some are nice but hmmm........while others I really like. I can't order everything I like though.......I have to be strong and constrained, as I only have a small shop and don't want my customers to be tripping over fabric stacked in every spare space. I also like to have new fabric arrive every month or so.......that way there is nearly always something new to look at, inspire and tempt you :) .
New ranges due to arrive over the next five months are 'Daphne' - pretty florals; and 'Midwinter Reds' by Minick & Simpson in September.....which is next month!
'Scrumptious' by Bonnie & Camille in October.....if you loved 'Ruby' you will love this range
'Modern Love' (in Black Magic & Truffle colourways) by Kelly Panacci......great for guys!; and 'Green Tea & Iced Mocha' by the Buggy Barn in November. This is the first Buggy Barn fabric I have ordered but I am sure it won't be the last!
And finally the newest order is 'I Heart You' by Moon Cookie Gallery.
Something about this range just grabbed my eye.
But you will have to wait until January 2014 before it arrives.
Lots of lovely fabrics......hopefully something for everyone......I will blog and facebook when the fabrics arrive in shop.

I am so very glad that the new glass for the heater arrived this morning. After having no heating for the last 4 days it is nice to be able to have a warm house again.
At least the quilts were put to good use, but the small bathroom heater just didn't cut it!

Winter in South West Victoria can be very depressing at times. The relentless rain and wind........we all know that we need the rain to make Spring perfect for growing lots of grass on the farm but we still complain about it because we are farmers.....lol! I was able to escape the wintery conditions for one day as Jodie and I flew north to Brisbane on Monday night. Yes that's right Brisbane. With cheap Jet Star flights......how can you pass up a return trip for just $109......we caught the 9.15 pm. The reason for our trip was not to escape the weather, but to attend this
It was an exhibition of quilts from the Victoria and Albert Museum in England. To say the quilts were magnificent is an understatement. To see quilts made over 200 years ago was quite overwhelming. No matter how much you look at photos and books, it just isn't the same. Both Jodie and I have ordered the book, so I look forward to reading more about the quilts that we saw. The exhibition continues until 22nd September, after that you will have to go to England to see the quilts......a trip I hope to make one day.
After the exhibition we enjoyed a walk along the Brisbane River.
The weather was glorious......some people were even swimming......we forgot our bikinis so unfortunately had to pass on having a dip....
The Arbour Walk was pretty with the bougainvilleas.....It would be more stunning in the height of the flowering season.
We couldn't go home without some gifts for the better halfs, Jodies kids and just a few for us.
We wanted to buy something here but our credit card limit wasn't big enough!
And what trip wouldn't be complete without hexagons.....both big.....
and small.
Thanks to Jodie for coming with me on my very first trip to Queensland......just a shame it was only for one day.

The delivery man and my lovely Mail Lady Sharon have been frequenting my door quite a bit recently. Most of the deliveries have been tins, threads, sewing notions, patterns and books and while I'm not saying that these parcels aren't exciting, it somehow doesn't meet the excitement of fabric! The latest arrival is the very cute range called 'Dog Gone Cute'.......12 bolts of lovely flannel for $22 per metre

Yesterday I had a great day with a lovely group of ladies in a fun little class. Vicki, Carol, Betty, Anne & Karen all learnt how to use the Hugs'n'Kisses fusible hexagons and were well on their way to making the Red Hexie Snap Bag. Most of my regular blog and facebook followers know that I am working on my new hexagon quilt, and as a treat I decided to give the ladies a look at the quilt so far. They were very privileged as I haven't shown anyone the progress for quite some time (except for family members). I think that they liked it!
Special thanks to Vicki who made these beautiful little cupcakes for us to enjoy.
As I am not really eating much solid food yet, she gave me some to take home. Vicki also dropped me off on her way back through Colac so that I could collect my car. That saved Russell taking me in last night, so I was able to stitch another 50 hexagons for my quilt....thanks Vicki.....maybe I will make that deadline after all!
