Today's post has nothing to do with patchwork or fabric but everything to do about family. I come from a family of three girls and one boy..... Ann, me, Cathryn and Peter.
Growing up was 'hard' for Pete......having 3 older sisters tested his patience.....lots!
Despite our tormenting, the skinny weedy kid turned into a fine young man and he met a lovely young woman called Andy. The first time we all went out for dinner, little Hannah (4 at the time) sat opposite her Uncy Pete and gazed into his eyes as she asked, quite innocently, whether she could be a flower girl at his wedding. I got the blame for setting her up to it......but I swear that I didn't......I guess that she thought that because Uncy Pete had a girlfriend that there was going to be a wedding. Over the years the joke has continued......it went from flower girl to junior bridesmaid to bridesmaid and we were starting to think Matron of Honour would be next! That was until today.............after 19 years together Peter and Andy are engaged! It took a trip to Hong Kong for him to pop the question......but hey who cares. We have waited patiently impatiently through special brithdays, Christmases, anniversaries, celebrations, even Kenny Kidney's 10th birthday party for this day to arrive. If we had known that a trip to Hong Kong would do it we would have taken up a collection years ago! All jokes aside, the entire family are super excited about the news. We love Andy with all our hearts and she has been an important part of our family for the past 19 years.
Congratulations to you both..........I just hope that we don't have to wait another 19 years for the wedding day!
Linda :)
