Well I'm not quite sure where 2013 disappeared to but I do hope that 2014 goes a little slower so I have got more time to enjoy it. I have just been looking back through my 2013 blog posts and I can't believe how much I fitted into the year. Here are just some of the highlights......
January was the month that Hannah came home from her seven week trip to South America......Chile, Costa Rica & Peru......I missed her so it was lovely to see her smiling face again. I also spent much of the month researching and writing my 'Dear Prudence' book.
February saw me attend the Victorian Quilters regional gathering as guest speaker and stall holder. It was hosted by Clocktower Quilters at Camperdown and everyone made me feel very welcome.
March was a huge month with the marriage of Emma and Ryan in the garden at the shop. A wonderful day that went way too quick. It was also the month that my friend Lenora opened her shop Elm Grove Patchwork.
April included a couple of firsts........I released my pattern book "Dear Prudence, more than just a pattern" just in time for my shop's debut at the Australasian Quilt Convention in Melbourne. A fantastic experience that was shared with Lenora and her shop......after a rocky start to it all we are both heading back this year!
May appeared 'quiet' but lots of work was going on behind the scene. We also celebrated Kenny Kidney's 10th birthday.....a very special occasion.
June saw Russell and I sneak away for a small holiday in Mildura for 4 days......making the most of it before the cows started calving again.
In July we had Joel come and stay with us and learn all about life on a dairy farm including the fine art of moving fast whilest milking cows!
August included a trip to Brisbane to visit the Quilts 1700 - 1945 Exhibition at the Queensland Art Gallery. Jodie and I left the harsh cold weather of Victoria for a day of quilts and sunshine ........ just wish it could have been for longer!
September is 'Stitch in Spring' month and what a month it is. Months of planning and work culminating in one special day for 80 ladies.
October saw a special celebration for a special lady....my Mother-in-law's 90th birthday.
November had the biggest surprise of the year decade.......my brother Peter and his lovely partner Andrea got engaged after 19 years. We have been informed that the wedding won't take another 19 years as Andrea is now in charge.....thank goodness for that!
December was well......December. With all of the usual hustle and bustle of Christmas stuff......oh and the reveal of my Hexagon quilt to date.
So throw in the farm and shop stuff, I can now see why the year just flew by. The scary thing is the next 6 months don't look to be any better so I'd better hang on for the wild and fast ride!
Thank you to everyone who has followed my blog for the past 12 months, and those who have supported me and my business. With your continued support I will be able to grow and I look forward to a bigger and better 2014. Hope your's will be as good!
Linda :)
