Love of my life.....

A teenage girl with posters all over her wall......yep I was young once....even if it was a looong time ago. My first ever cassette (remember those!) that I bought.........'A day at the races'.

For 30 years I have been waiting for for them to come back.......I missed them when they were here last time.

But I wasn't going to repeat that on Friday night......even though I thought that we were going to when the traffic was horrific as everyone was either heading to the MGC to watch the football or going to the Rod Laver Arena.

We had great seats.......and Emma, Hannah, Russell and I waited for the concert to begin.

A lot of people have said that Queen are not Queen without Freddie Mercury. It is true that no one will replace Freddie but Queen has been more than just Freddie to me. My favourite has always been Brian May.

And Adam Lambert was just fantastic!

A true performer who entertained the whole crowd, and it was clear that both Brian and Roger agreed.

My ears have just about stopped ringing....

I am still singing the songs that I love....

and I have a t-shirt too!

I feel like one happy teenager all over again!

Change to shop hours.....just for today

There will be a slight change to my opening hours for today only. I will be open from 12 noon until 3pm only. Back to normal hours tomorrow. Apologies for any inconvenience. Cheers Linda.

Stitch, pack or pitch?

I have found stuff that I forgot I had.

I have found stuff that I wonder why I kept it.

I have found stuff that was lost (aka put in that safe place).

and I have found stuff that I thought I had thrown out.......like this half finished hexagon quilt.......

I think that I started this when we lived in Melbourne in the early 80's.

Unfortunately I used a poly cotton fabric so the beige looks like it is different shades and the design is somewhat less than exciting. I have lots of fabric left and even these four flowers made up and ready for stitching.

The hexagons are slightly bigger than 1 1/2" and the top currently measures 175cm x 235cm.

But the big questions are........do I finish it, do I pack it away (again) or do I pitch it?

I'd rather go to the dentist

I surveyed 100 women and asked them what clothes shopping they hated the most.

The most popular answer was this....

Actually it was the only answer!

3 trips to the changeroom, 16 different styles in 6 different sizes, one hour later and $140 lighter I left with a plastic bag with 2 new bras. Men have got it so easy!!!

To answer a few questions.....

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments and messages of congratulations on my last post. Many of you raised questions about what our future holds post dairy farming. The first question most people ask is "but what will Russell do?" Please don't worry about him........I have a big long list of jobs for him......lol! He tells everyone that he is going to do nothing......but anyone that knows him won't believe that line. He has told me that we need to get the vegie garden back into productive mode.....and not forgetting the rest of the garden too. Russell has never been a gardener, unless it was with a chainsaw or tractor & frontend loader......but I will reducate him! He also has 250 cider apple trees that will need some tlc, and yes Loz he will be working on future vintages! Oh and he has been offered a job.......and in his spare time you will see him hanging around in the shop drinking coffee.

I find it funny that no-one ever asks "but what will Linda do?". I will tell you that instead of milking cows, feeding calves, and all of those other farming duties, I will be spending more time gardening, stitching, travelling, working in the shop (yes I am still going to have the shop), visiting my girls (if they want me!) AND sleeping in until at least 7am!

And where will we live?.....at the shop of course!

When we built the shop (8 years ago), we included a kitchen, laundry, and bathroom. The two upstairs rooms will be our bedroom, dining and loungeroom.  As the ladies said today......at least you won't have far to go to work! I will still only be open Thursdays to Sundays, so please don't expect it to be 7 days a week.

To those who will miss my posts about the farm, don't worry we are keeping our out paddock for our heifers.......for a few years anyway. After all Lister has to get his farm fix as well. And a special note to Lenora and Janine........we won't be available for relief milking!

Exciting and scary.......

For almost 30 years this has been home for us (and over 50 years for Russell)

We have raised our family and watched them grow up and move on with their own lives.

We transformed our farm into a wonderful place to live and work.

I have raised more calves than I can remember, and milked more cows than we want to count.

We have been through good times and bad times times........we have cried and laughed together.

And now we are ready to move on. Our farm has been sold and with a very short contract period, the settlement date of September 1st is fast approaching. It is both exciting and scary at the same time. I am sure that we will miss life on the farm, but we are looking forward to the next stage of our lives....post cows, early mornings and watching the clock for 4pm.

PS. I hope this explains my absence from blogging......moving 30 years of 'stuff' in 4 weeks is just a little time consuming.....not to mention exhausting!
