What started out as an idea between two friends to celebrate the friendship that has grown from the mutual love of quilting and all things fabric, turned out to be a fantastic 5 days of fun, friends, fabric and food. Of course I am talking about our recent Friendship Frolic. Lenora and I were delighted to see so many lovely ladies (with the odd husband 'thrown' in) enjoying a day out.
At Gum Valley Patchwork the ladies enjoyed a display of items all made from Selvedges. Jodie's beautiful Selvedge Frock drew lots of oohs and aahs.....I just wish that I could fit in to it!
I was also super pleased with my finished Button Box Quilt (on the wall). Many people asked about the pattern......it is available as a PDF download from Karen Griska here. I have made a few of Karen's quilts including the Zinger Quilt which is the one in the corner of the photo. The winner of my free guess the length of the selvedges competition was Simone Hayes of Colac.....yay Simone! Simone won a $20 gift voucher......which I'm sure she will have no trouble spending :)
There was a welcoming committee of friendly faces in the classroom......
Actually I don't think that the classroom has been this neat in a very long time!
There were lots of lovely things to tempt the ladies and maybe just some of it went home with them........
For the ladies who spent $20 at both shops, their completed passports were placed in a box for the chance to win a $150 gift voucher from both Gum Valley Patchwork and Elm Grove Patchwork. Lenora and I met this morning at her shop to draw the winner.......drum roll.......and the winner is Wendy Leersen from Birregurra. Wendy attended the Frolic on the first day with a group of ladies from her sewing group. Congratulations Wendy!.......your vouchers are in the mail.
And since we have had such a great time with our first ever Friendship Frolic we have decided to make it an annual event. So if you missed out on the fun this year don't worry you can come along next year......or if you can't wait that long?......grab a friend, plan a day trip and visit us anytime you like!
Linda :)
Thanks Linda & Lenora for such a great 5 days of quilt shopping fun.
