I had planned on writing all about AQM on Monday but that didn't eventuate so now it is Friday and I have made it my mission for today to start and tell you all about it. The Australian Quilt Market is held once a year in November in Melbourne. It is not open to the general public so don't worry you haven't missed a Quilt Show. It is for retailers to go and check out (and order) what is new in notions, patterns, fabric and everything quilting and sewing related, as wholesalers display their goods. Although it is only a small event, it is our only chance to see it all in one place.....all at the same time. I usually attend with no real plan so I thought that this year would be different and I took a list with me. Well that worked well.......NOT.......it turned out a bit like the list you take to the supermarket.......you know the one.......you not only buy what is on the list but you keep seeing 'oh I need that too' items! So the budget wasn't just blown it was smashed to smithereens! I have so many new things to tell you about I have decided to do it over several blog posts......just so that you don't get blog overload. So let's start with a little bit of fabric......I placed orders for 6 ranges of fabric which will be arriving over the next 5 months. The first was the beautiful new range from French General called 'Ville Fleurie'......my year 11 french is just a vague memory so please don't expect me to pronounce it correctly. With colours listed as rouge, lavender, bordeaux, roche, faded red, pearl faded red and pearl, it can't be anything else but stunning!
I must admit that when I saw it in the catalogue I was undecided.......but the fabric samples sold me!
The precuts arrived yesterday for those who would like them.... Jelly Rolls, Layer Cakes and Charm Packs
I have ordered the complete range of fabric which is due for delivery in April 2016.....yes I know it seems like forever to wait. But spare a thought for me......they also showed me Christmas fabric for next year!!!!......I just couldn't come at that!
Back tomorrow with some more fabric goodness.
Linda :)
Geez.....can someone please tell the milk companies that they need to pay dairy farmers more for the milk....us dairy farming women desire more fabric and something tells me I'm going to have lots to need to buy from Gum Valley :)
