As a complete change from yesterday's post about soft and feminine fabric, comes some bright and modern prints to tempt you. And what makes this special is that the two designers are both local ladies from Ballarat. The first is well known to lovers and makers of soft and quirky toys......the wonderful Jodie Carleton (Ric Rac). Jodie has just released her second range of fabrics called 'The Cat's Pyjamas'.
Jodie's new range compliments her first range 'Backyard Circus' very nicely, and for this reason I have ordered a good mix of about 15 bolts......including the Kitty and Milo panels. Arriving next week will be this cute quilt pattern called 'Animal Circus' by Claire Turpin Designs using Jodie's fabric.......isn't it fun!
As soon as the fabric arrives I will be making up some kits.
The second 'local' designer is Emma Jean Jansen. Some of you might remember Emma as the owner of Ballarat Patchwork. Emma closed her business a couple of years ago to pursue a career in design and has produced a number of ranges since then. Her latest is a Melbourne inspired range called 'Melba'.
After I left school I worked in Melbourne for 3 years so I can certainly relate to the designs that Emma has used in this modern range of fabrics...........especially the old punch card style tram tickets that would be totally destroyed if they accidentally went through the wash!
I have ordered the lovely teal colourway......and yes the magpies are coming!
Both fabric ranges are distributed by Ella Blue, an Australian Company set up for Australian Designers. The price is also very good at just $16 per metre. So much fabric so little time to sew samples......maybe now that harvest is nearly over I can teach Russell to sew......what do you think?
Linda :)
I've been hanging out for the Cat's Pyjamas....so bright ....so cute.....
