I decided this morning that today was going to be the day. The day that I would drag out the big green bag, lug it downstairs and start the unenviable task of assembling it.......It being the Christmas Tree!
All was going to plan as I moved things around to fit it in........dusting and sweeping as I went. A mess up to my armpits and then it happened. The dreaded phone call........."Are you doing anything?"......."I might need you to give me a hand"......"I'll ring you in 30 minutes if I do".......All of you farming women out there know exactly what I am talking about......don't you!! So I ended up driving the ute to an outpaddock at Port Campbell, loaded up with tools and the like to fix a broken hay rake. The view was lovely from high on the hill.
I didn't take any stitching with me but I wouldn't have been able to anyway. I had to help hold things, pass things, pull things and push things. All the while I watched as black clouds headed towards home and towards my washing which was on the line. After 4 hours I got home. Home to sheets and undies on the ground and washing that was wetter on the line than what it was when it came out of the washing machine. On the upside I won't have to water the veggie garden tonight!
Oh and someone greeted me when I pulled up at home with a big loud grunt.
Linda :)
