I know that I spend nearly every day doing some sort of stitching.......whether it be hand stitching some hexagons, appliquing shapes, machine sewing samples or simply stitching for fun. But there can be interruptions and sometimes sewing by yourself isn't as fun as it is with a group of like minded people. I have organised a few stitching retreats over the years and the ladies love them. I look at the them all stitching, laughing and having a wonderful time, and while I get enjoyment out of seeing everyone happy, I am rather envious that I can't be out there with them all. So this year I have decided to gather up a small group of friends and head to Apollo Bay for a Stitching weekend. It won't be until later in the year, but I have already picked out where we will be staying.........here at Sunnyside Cottage.....just saying the name makes me smile!
Pauline and her husband Peter, bought the cottage several years ago and have set it up with crafters in mind. Pauline is a patchwork herself and understands how much stitching stuff we all have to take with us whenever we travel. She has most of the supplies that you need.......2 large cutting mats; 2 large rulers; 6 small daylight lamps; 4 power boards; 2 extension leads; 1 full size ironing board and 2 table top ironing boards; 2 irons; a design wall and even crafty magazines for inspiration.....how good is that!
The Cottage sleeps 7 comfortably.......Room 1 has a Queen-size bed; Room 2 has 2 Single beds and a bunk - Double on the bottom and single up the top; and Room 3 has 2 King Single beds. There is also a Sofa-bed in the workroom.
I can see lots of yummy food being shared on this table....and maybe a glass or three of something cold!
All that's left is for me to organise a date that suits everyone and book it......oh and check Russell's calendar so that he can run the Shop for me!
If you would like more information about Sunnyside Cottages, you can check out their website HERE.......and they have special rates for Quilting groups......isn't that fantastic!
Linda :)
