Wow what a great weekend we have just had. I feel a very lazy Monday coming on, but before I pop a load of tea towels on the clothes line, I thought that I would do a wrap up blog post of our 2018 Stitch in Spring. The weeks leading up to the big weekend are always busy and although there were a few hiccups, I some how managed to be organised by the time Friday morning came around. Friday is a full day of setting up the Surf Club in readiness for the start of day one on the Saturday morning. The room was empty and ready for some SIS glam to happen.
It seemed to go together very quickly, and before we knew it, it was looking great.
The tables were all set
A kit bag for everyone as well as a handmade goody bag filled with some gifts for all who attended.
Name badges ready for Day 1 to kick off
We even had the shop set up in record time with just a few extra touches needed early Saturday morning........there is always something that I forget to bring along!
There was even a little welcoming display at the front door.
Saturday morning came around way too quick, and it wasn't long until the room was full of ladies.
and the stitching began
Our tutors for the weekend were Clare Horsmann (Clare's Place) from Tasmania, and Gail Pan (Gail Pan Designs) from Melbourne.
It was Clare's first time with us in Port Campbell and the display of her work certainly brightened the room.
Clare's projects for the weekend were inspired by her love of her beautiful girls, and her story certainly touched everyone's heart.
I'm sure that the ladies enjoyed chatting with Clare and learning some new stitches to incorporate into their projects.
Gail's display of work was beautiful as always. I was just disappointed that I couldn't spend more time looking at all of Gail's new projects especially the one's from her 'Patchwork loves Embroidery Too' book. Maybe if I hadn't talked so much......
Gail's projects for the weekend were the Sweet September bag and pouch set.
It is always great to welcome Gail back to the Stitch in Spring. This was her fifth trip down, the first two when I held it at Simpson and the other three at Port Campbell.
The ladies were also keen to hear about Gail's recent trip to the US and also have a sneek peek at her new range of fabrics called 'Home Sewn' which will arrive in November. I will be getting the full range in the shop and will let you all know when it arrives.
And before we knew it the weekend was over and we were saying goodbye to everyone.
Special thanks to a few very special people.....
Russell for helping me and putting up with me during all of the phases of organising this event. He worked in the kitchen all weekend and ran the dishwasher like a professional!
My sister Cathryn and friend Lyndell who came along and worked in kitchen all weekend........thank you very much. I never have to worry about what's happening in there as I know that it is all under control.
My wonderful daughters Emma and Hannah. Emma helped set up on the Friday and then worked in the kitchen all weekend. I did ask Emma whether the girls were going to be with us for the weekend and her quick reply was "Hell no!" I think that she enjoyed some time away from Georgia 3.5 and Madeline 16 months......and some adult conversation.....lol! Hannah did a great job in the shop for me and I know that she always has everything under control.
My friend Jodie for helping to set up on Friday, and even sacrificed milking the cows on Sunday afternoon to come back and help pack up......lol!
And of course our lovely tutors. No tutor leaves a Stitch in Spring without a gift of delicious GORGE Chocolates. I think Gail was going to try some on her way home and Clare might have to share some of hers with her girls. Thank you ladies..........it was a great weekend!
For those wanting to mark the dates on their calendars for next year.........it's the 21st and 22nd September.......still in Port Campbell. Tutors are yet to be announced, and registrations don't open until 9am on Monday 25th March.
Finally thank you to everyone who attended. I hope that you all enjoyed yourselves and maybe I might see you again some time soon.
Linda :)
