I thought that I had better get back to my holiday blogging before I can't remember where I went and what I did......lol! And just a little warning that if you don't want to see photos of snow then you had better go away now.
We left Vancouver on the Sunday morning and made our way to Kelowna. Our tour director, Eileen, was a wealth of knowledge and we stopped in a few places for the usual photo opportunities.
Stunning scenery, reminded me a lot of New Zealand and Ireland
The next day was the day we had long been hoping for. On our long trip to Banff, we saw our first Black Bear in the wild. Unfortunately we were unable to stop for a photo, and speeding past at 100km wasn't ideal for bus snap, but believe me, we did see a bear.....yay! On all of the Cosmos bus trips that we have been on, we always have a morning stop, a lunch stop and then an afternoon stop. It's no wonder we put on weight when we go on holidays......all that sitting....and all of those different snacks to taste test! At our morning break, we stopped at a food store / garden centre........oh my goodness....if I wasn't missing my garden beforehand, I certainly was afterwards! Check out all of those wonderful seeds......but alas I couldn't buy any to bring home.
It was also torture looking at all of the different garlic and onions. I certainly didn't want to end up on Border Security, so they stayed where they were, and I consoled myself with a big ice-cream in a cone.....Tiger Stripe.....Orange with licorice!
Another stop close to Banff late in the afternoon.
It was getting quite chilly, and while we were layered up in coats and hats, we couldn't believe that this couple were having wedding photos taken. How that bride was not frozen was a mystery!
We had our bus tour of Banff, pointing out all of the best places to eat.....and those to avoid......and where the supermarket was to purchase our supplies from. A little misunderstanding from incorrectly placed price labels, saw Hannah pay $10 for a large box of Fruit Loops instead of what she thought they were.....which was about $4. For the next week that Box of Fruit Loops went everywhere with us.......she wasn't wasting any of them. They even became her snacks on the bus, which we affectionately nicknamed Hannah's Trail Mix....lol!
With a helicopter flight booked, we headed out the next morning to the helipad for our flight.
Hannah got to sit up the front with the pilot
while I was in the back with Danni and Ricky from our tour. Everyone had a window seat, and the 30 minute flight went oh so quick. I don't know why 30 minute dental appointments don't go that quick.....just not fair!
On the way up
Frozen rivers
Snow capped peaks
More snow
and right up the top........glaciers
On the way back down I took this photo, and I have to say that it is one of my favourite for the whole trip.
Our afternoon was filled with lots of walking
with some shopping thrown in to the mix....while Hannah shopped for a Pandora charm, I browsed through the Christmas shop next door.
Calzone and cider for dinner rounded out a great couple of days in Banff.
It was once again......bags out.....on the bus by........time to head to Jasper and more adventures.
Linda :)
