Great International Craft Show #10.........and Lockdown #5

That's right we are back in lockdown here in Victoria, and that means that the shop will be closed today, tomorrow and Sunday. Hopefully (everything crossed), it will only be until next Tuesday, and that I can reopen as normal on Thursday 22nd.

The snap lockdown has meant the cancellation of many events planned for this weekend, and that included the Shepparton Craft Alive event. The Craft Alive team and exhibitors had only just set up when the news came through about the lockdown. It's utterly heartbreaking for them, as the same thing occurred earlier in the year.....at the same event! Believe me when I say a lot of time and effort, and not to mention expense, goes in to preparing and setting up for craft shows. But as they say, the show must go on.......so we are all excited about being part of the Craft Alive's - Great International Craft Show #10 which starts this morning and runs through until Sunday afternoon.

This is an online show, and is free to 'attend'. Just click on the link HERE and you can browse the shopping hall at your leisure. I have selected 10 products to list on my page, but as you all know, I have so much more in the shop to tempt you. And as a special offer during the GICS, postage on all web orders placed up until Sunday afternoon will be capped at $5. Dance in Paris

The arrival of this new fabric collection slipped past my list of things to blog about.......I don't know how.....but it did. The 'Dance in Paris' collection is designed by Zen Chic for Moda Fabrics and arrived about a month ago.

There were 35 prints in the collection, but I have already sold out of 2 of them with some of the others getting a little low. I also have some of the pre-cuts left and they are all listed HERE on the website.

I have made three projects from this range of fabrics. The first I have already mentioned in a previous post (back in April), the Dancing Dresden Felted Pouch. These kits come with everything.....even the charm.....and are listed HERE for $16 each.....but there aren't many left!

I have also made this 'Dancing Chevrons' Quilt, and although I have used this pattern before, I just love it with these fabrics! Hannah obviously loves it too as she has put her name on it after I sell all of the kits....lol! There are limited kits available for $145 each, and they are listed online HERE. The quilt measures 176cm x 198cm.

The last new project that I want to show you is my new 'Zen Swing' Bag. I made this bag on Thursday and I gave a little preview of it at my 'Live @ Five' on my Facebook page on the same day. Those who watched would've seen that I was contemplating how to sew in the magnetic closures. Well I worked out how to sew them in, but unfortunately they didn't really work.....damn! It goes with the designing process.....win some lose some. On a positive note, I am very happy with how quickly the bag came together, and I am sure that I will be making other versions in the future.

I have limited kits available at the moment, until more of the webbing arrives. The kits are listed online HERE and are available for $32 each.

I have ordered 4 of the 'Spring in Paris' quilt kits, but they are currently on back order. These come as a Moda boxed kit and have the fabric for the quilt top and binding.

Let me know if you are wanting one, and I can let you know when they arrive. They will retail at about $200.

Broderie Embroidery Sampler

These new pre-printed Broderie Embroidery Samplers arrived yesterday afternoon. Designed by Kaari of French General fame, these Samplers are printed on Mochi Linen and are available in rouge

and in roche

As you can see there are four embroidery samplers within the panel, which can be cut out individually and stitched. They can be stitched in traditional French General colours....

or in any thread colour that you desire......

Either way the look will be stunning!

Stitch in Spring 2021

Over the last month I have been trying to get my head around the ins and outs of running this year's Stitch in Spring event. With border closures, red zones, quarantining and everything else that has been going on, it makes it very difficult to plan anything that involves interstate travel. To tell you the truth I am sick of sitting back and waiting, wondering and worrying about what is going to happen, and I have made the decision to get on with life and just go for it.....and if something happens down the track, I will deal with it then. To this end, I decided to leave it up to my tutors to decide whether or not they were prepared to risk traveling to Victoria in September. Both Marg and Sophie have decided to postpone their  involvement in this year's event, but have left the option open for 2022 instead, which is great. So the hunt was on for new tutors that could come along. This got me thinking........a dangerous thing according to Russell....lol! This year will be my 10th Stitch in Spring event. It doesn't seem that long ago that I decided to run my first SIS in Simpson at the Recreation Reserve. Talking to Lenora all those years ago, we discussed how there was nothing like this down this way, with all stitching type days held in Melbourne or further afield. This made it difficult for local ladies to attend, so the event was born. Lenora did warn me that it was like organising a wedding.......attendees, tables, gifts, food, table decorations etc etc.......and she wasn't wrong! So over the years that followed, I have organised 9 'weddings'......made 1,050 bags and fed over 1,080 people. It grew from a one day event in Simpson for the first 2 years, to now a two day event in Port Campbell. So where am I heading with this......well let me tell you. I have invited my very first tutors from 2011 to come back and join in the fun for my big 10th Anniversary year! It's so fantastic to have Gail Pan and Lenora Jenkins back with me in 2021!

Look at us all those years ago......don't we look young....lol!

I am really excited about this year's Stitch in Spring, and I have lots to do to be ready in just 10 weeks! For those who registered for the 2020 SIS, your registrations were carried over to this year. I have been contacting everyone who registered last year to confirm whether or not you are able to make the new dates, so please check your messages etc, and let me know asap. The two days are fully booked, and I do have names on my waiting list. There have been a few cancellations (mainly interstate ladies), and I will be working my way through the waiting list shortly.

Christmas in July 2021

Well I am a couple of days late posting this Christmas in July wrap-up blog post, but better late than never. As I have started to collate the photos for this post, I realised that I didn't take any before shots, so I have taken screen shots from the short video that I took on Sunday morning......so apologies in advance for the quality! 

After not being able to have my event last year (for obvious reasons), it was lovely to be able to hold my 3rd Christmas in July on Sunday.

The name tags were laid out

The two Christmas themed projects were stitched and kitted, ready for the day.

The tables were set

along with a special Rudolph sweet for everyone.

While the weather outside was cold and rainy, the ladies were warm inside and made the most of being able to spend the day with friends and like minded crafters.

Santa took time out of his very busy schedule for a visit to Simpson. Lots of the ladies took the opportunity to have their photo taken with him, and let him know what was on their Christmas wish lists.

Santa was thanked for his visit and presented with a basket full of goodies, which are now on their way back to the North Pole. I did have an update from Mrs Claus who said that Santa wasn't going to share it with her......lol!

The day seemed to be over in a flash, and before we knew it we were packing up, loading up and heading for home.

Big thanks go out to all of the ladies who came along and made the day such a great success. I hope that you all enjoyed yourselves.

Hannah for her fantastic skills in the shop. I never have to worry about leaving it in her capable hands. And also for helping Santa in his duties :)

While talking about Santa.......thanks to Santa (aka Pete) for donning the red suit once again. He has lost a bit of weight so he might need to get Mrs Claus (aka Andy) to take it in a bit......lol! Thanks Andy for making the cute Rudolph sweets for each of the ladies!

Russell, for helping in the kitchen and always being there for me. He was on duty for CERT, and although his pager never went off during the day (which it did during the Retreat in March), it went off just as we were loading up the last of the things in to the ute. Perfect timing!

This year I have a special thank you. I always have lucky draws at my event, and when Barb Devine (from Devine Quilting in Elliminyt) rang me late last week and offered a Quilting Voucher as a prize, I was speechless. A lovely gesture by a lovely lady. So thank you Barb for supporting my event. I'm sure that Josephine will love using the voucher on one of her quilts.

My focus now turns to the Stitch in Spring in September. I will be back tomorrow with the updated details.

Christmas in July.....shop closed

Apologies for the non blogging lately, but my focus has been organising my Christmas in July event which is on this Sunday 4th July. I am quickly stopping by to remind everyone that the shop will be closed on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th July. The shop will reopen on Thursday 8th July.......and I will get back to some blogging!
