Bluebird Beauty

This gorgeous new fabric collection by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts for Andover Fabrics arrived last Wednesday afternoon.

There are 32 fabrics in the collection.......27 prints, 3 cheater prints, 1 cross stitch panel print, and quilt labels.......and all are listed on my website HERE. 

They are all just so lovely, and I'm not the only one who thinks that. I was busy over the weekend cutting bundles and orders, and some of the bolts are getting low....with one completely gone already!

I have made up two projects using the collection, and am working on another one at the moment.

The first is a remake of my Roselyn Pouch which I made earlier in the year using the 'Roselyn' fabric collection by Minick & Simpson. While it was very popular and has since sold out (as well as the sample), not everyone loves red.....so maybe this blue version will better suit some of you.

I particularly love the striped fabric on the diagonal for the binding. The kits are available now for $25 each.....check them out on my website HERE.

The other is a new take on my Ruby Red's Case, which I made using the 'Redwork Gatherings' fabric collection. This reinvention has seen a beautiful wide lace replace hexagons, and a fabric handle replace the leather strapping. The result is the very handy 'Carry me away' case

I only have a limited number of kits available at the moment until more of the cream zips arrive in about two weeks time. They are $16 and are listed on my website HERE.

Chenille-it Blooming Bias tape

I have been struggling a little over the last couple of days. About ten days ago Russell caught a cold from a guy at his work (who caught it from his kids), and as always, I have now caught it off him. I am still on that trough and hopefully it won't be long until I am feeling better again. In the meantime I will be working away behind the scenes finishing off a few things, and catching up on a mountain of book work and computer stuff.....including blogging. For those who missed my Live@Five last week, or who aren't on Facebook, I have finished my new Blushing Blooms Quilt using the Chenille-it Blooming Bias Tape.

I wasn't sure how it would turn out but to say that I am thrilled is an understatement!

Most of the fabric I used in the quilt is from the 'Kaisley Rose' fabric collection by Poppie Cotton, with a couple of 'ring-ins' for the backgrounds and the flower centres. The kits for the quilt are available on my website HERE.

I have six colours of the Chenille-it Blooming Bias Tape currently in stock......white, natural, pale pink, pale blue, pale yellow and just peachy. I have just listed them on my website HERE.

Although there are a few instructional videos around on how to use this tape, I thought that I would make one to have as an easy reference on my Facebook Page. I will wait until my next project for that.......I have another smaller baby quilt in mind, but I am waiting on a new Poppie Cotton collection to arrive for that!

Live@Five

This is a new concept.....well new for me.....that I started about a month ago on my Gum Valley Patchwork Facebook page. Although I love blogging, it is a time consuming process that sometimes gets shuffled down the list of jobs to do. Often I forget to blog about new things in and around the shop, so I have decided to do a Live@Five session every Thursday on my Facebook page. I talk about, and show, new fabrics and notions that have arrived, as well as new projects that I have made and kitted up, or am currently working on. I understand a lot of you aren't able to tune in at that time, but if you can't watch it live don't worry, the video will be available for viewing on my page shortly after.

This week's live will be exciting as I have quite a bit to show you all. Usually it goes for about 10 - 15 minutes but this week it may just be a little longer than that!

But one thing is for sure......it has taken me out of my comfort zone of prerecording videos and checking to make sure that they are all 'perfect' before posting.....I think that I am getting better at it though.....lol!

Flannel Bricks

There was a sneaky new reveal in a photo in yesterday's blog post about the new 'All for Christmas' fabric collection. Did you spot it? It was my new version of my Sycamore Bricks Quilt from a few years ago....this time I used some of the wonderful flannel fabric that I have in stock. It's called 'Flannel Bricks', and yesterday I was able to get Russell to help me while I took a photo of it. It's much easier with two.....and the quilt doesn't end up on the ground like the time I tried on my own!

I am so thrilled by the way that it turned out, and the quilting by Barb Devine (Devine Quilting) is fabulous!

The kits are ready now and include the flannel fabric for the top, border and binding. They are listed online HERE for $115 per kit.

All For Christmas

I can't believe that it's been 3 weeks since my last blog post. It was during lockdown #5, and now, unfortunately, we are into lockdown #6. I have been busy over the last few weeks, so over the coming blog posts I will try and catch you all up on what I have been doing.

The festive new collection 'All for Christmas' arrived about 2 weeks ago and I quickly popped it on display in shop.

I also made up a couple of new projects using these muted Christmas prints. The first is the Christmas Cheer Table Centre.

The kits has all of the fabric required to make the table centre, and is listed on the website HERE for $28.

Inspired by the striped border type print, I made up the new 'All Ready for Christmas' bag.

The cute fussy cut hexagons were fun to do! The kits are available on the website HERE for $28.

There are 18 prints in the collection, and I also have Fat Eighth Bundles available.
